Keep in mind that the application deadline is February 1 for a position that starts any time between the following July and January, so you need to plan ahead! You must have completed all the requirements for your Ph.D. by the time you start your Post Doc.

We have provided a link to these sites because they have information that may be of interest to our users. NIST does not necessarily endorse the views or the facts presented on these sites. Further, NIST does not endorse any commercial products that may be advertised or available on these sites. By selecting these links, you will be leaving NIST webspace.

The application materials are available from the National Research Council. There are five different research opportunities within the program for our group:

  1. Bose Einstein Condensation [K. Helmerson, W.D. Phillips]
  2. Laser Cooling of Neutral Atoms [W.D. Phillips]
  3. Optical Tweezers [K. Helmerson]
  4. Quantum Information and Quantum Optics [W.D. Phillips, K. Helmerson, P.D. Lett, J. Porto]
  5. Ultracold Collisions [P.D. Lett]

If you are interested in applying after visiting the NRC site, contact one of the group members for further discussions. Note that the NRC program is for U.S. citizens only. Our group has also had many foreign Post Docs, including five Alexander von Humboldt fellows. We welcome inquiries from abroad as well.
